- ICER Innovation Challenge 2024: The ICER Innovation Challenge is a national-level competition that invites students,
faculty, and researchers from ICER member institutions to showcase their innovative ideas, projects, and solutions that
can address the real-world problems in education and research. The winners will receive cash prizes, certificates, and

- ICER Webinar Series 2024: The ICER Webinar Series is a quarterly online event that features distinguished speakers
and panelists from various domains and disciplines, who share their insights and perspectives on various topics and
themes related to education and research. The webinars are free and open to all, and are recorded and archived on our
website and YouTube channel. The next webinar is on "Artificial Intelligence and Education: Opportunities and

- ICER Annual Conference 2024: The flagship event of ICER, the annual conference brings together eminent speakers,
experts, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers from across the country and the world, to discuss and deliberate
on the most relevant and pressing issues and challenges facing the education and research sector. The theme of this
year's conference is "Transforming Education and Research for a Sustainable Future". The conference will be held on

Latest News
Here are some of the latest news and updates from ICER and the education and research sector:
- Major Reforms in Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions: The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has accepted the
recommendations of an expert committee to introduce major reforms in the accreditation of higher education institutions in India,
in line with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020. The reforms include binary accreditation, maturity-based graded
accreditation, and technology-driven modern system for accreditation. ICER welcomes and supports these reforms, and will work
closely with the ministry and the accreditation agencies to implement them effectively.
- Latest All India Survey of Higher Education (AISHE): What it says on female enrolment, takers for Arts and Science: The
report of the All India Survey of Higher Education (AISHE) 2021–22, made public on January 25, 2024, found that 4.33
crore students are currently enrolled in a higher educational institute, up from 4.14 crore in 2020-21, and 3.42 crore
in 2014-15. The report also showed that the number of women enrolled in higher education has steadily increased, and
the proportion of women is highest at the postgraduate level. The report also revealed that Arts and Science are the
most preferred streams of study, followed by Engineering and Technology.
- Union Budget 2024: Education Sector Eyes Enhanced Budget, Digital Advancements: The education sector anticipates
positive reforms aligned with the goals of the NEP 2020 in the upcoming Union Budget on February 01, 2024 (Interim).
This includes advancements in research and innovation, digital infrastructure and connectivity, quality assurance and
accreditation, faculty development and training, and internationalization and collaboration. ICER hopes that the budget
will allocate adequate funds and resources to the education and research sector, and will address the challenges and
gaps that have been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
